CNN Political Ticker: All politics, all the time Blog Archive – Palin hammered for rejecting stimulus money « – Blogs from CNN.com
I am really not sure about the stimulus money. On one hand, everyone can use more money but here in Alaska the only entities paying taxes are oil companies and businesses and their taxes aren’t going down at all. The state is running a deficit.
On the other hand, everyone is bitching about the government bailing out AIG and their ilk. Those folks are lining up for money from Uncle Sam too. How are the states different? Many states as just as guilty of running their states into the ground just as the financial sector has and yet it is ok to take that money but not business?
I was also told once that the key to giving money away is to become completely unconcerned about how it gets spent. If you worry about how it is spent, you shouldn’t give it out.
This is truly a political move on the part of our little pitbull but the consequences of this move I can get behind.
The sadness to the whole event is that our legislature will fall for her little trap and get the rest of the money anyway. She will win by presenting herself as a conservative and allowing the state to get the entire amount of money.
Will this have any effect on her political aspirations? I say no, it has already been shown, time and again, that Americans rarely vote for a leader but they do vote for an idea, a symbol, a representation of what they think they want.
I hate to quote Dan Fagan (the local Limbaugh) but it is an American Idol campaign and election.
