The thing that really bothers me about all of this is that it isn’t about firing Monahan. It is about the abuse of power that the Governor and her staff have been accused of. Monahan could have been fired for any reason or no reason at all. That is a fact. He has said that as has the Governor. He says that he was fired for not firing Trooper Wooten. If that is true, so what. He can be fired for that. So, let’s step away from this diversion and look at what is being investigated.

The Governor and her staff have been accused of abusing their power in regards to Trooper Wooten’s employment with the Alaska State Troopers. She, her husband, and her staff are currently under investigation for that, not the firing. Frank Bailey is on tape stating that the Governor and her husband were concerned that the trooper was still employed and why that was. Monahan’s response was that the trooper had already been punished for what a different investigation found and there was no reason to fire him. The trooper is not employed under the same rules as Monahan. Frank Bailey also mentioned (confessed) that he had read the troopers confidential employment files and that the trooper should be fired. He then called other members of the Governor’s staff to let them know what the status of his conversation was with Monahan.

That is what is being investigated. Stick to the facts.
